Questions:
. Why do you think the master of Jordan College choose to give Lyra the Althiometer?
The Master of Jordan College chose to have the althiometer because in the first place he knew that was the daughter of Lord Asriel and he was thinking that she was capable of doing the adventures that were necessary attain certain peace.
2. What if Lyra did not meet Iorek, do you think she could make it to the Bolvangar? Explain.

3. If Lyra and Pantalaimon are to be separated, what do you think might happen to them?
If Lyra and Pantalaimon would be separated they will both probably die because humans considered their daemons as their souls.
4. Do you think Lord Asriel and Ms. Coulter loved, valued and gave Lyra importance?
We think Lord Asriel and MS. Coulter did not love their daughter. Lord Asriel did not even have the time with Lyra instead he was always up there in the North pursuing his dream. And when Lyra followed him in the North, he did not even ask Lyra if she had been alright during the flight. He did not even hug or touched Lyra. MS. Coulter too had not done her part of being a mother to Lyra. She had been so busy with her ambition and did not even cared how Lyra was brought up in Jordan College or had she someone to be with to share her problems.
5. At the end of the story, do you think Lyra was extremely happy and contented with the outcomes of her flight?
At the end the story, we think Lyra was not extremely happy with the outcomes and consequences of her flight because she realized that she was somewhat fooled by her parents. She was just used for their ambition on Dust and the city behind it. In the end, she was not even hug and cared by her parents. She was just right there staring at her parents kissing each other.

Your brevier than what you think- a punch line of Barbie in Swan lake. Odeth at first was shaky on her own capability but when her friends in the mystery land was in need for her in order to defeat the evil forces that cursed their land. She became stronger not just for herself but for the sake of everyone in that land. Lyra in similar was stimulated to travel and fight for her friend Roger and for other children kidnapped by the evil General Oblation Board. Odeth and Lyra had the same characteristics, and that was being brave. They both played a heroic role in the story; they both fight the evil forces for the goodness of their love ones and for the truth.
Last three years ago, I have been the witness of the must see movie- The Chronicle of Namia based on the series of books of C.S Lewis. And as I read aesthetically this book of Philip Pullman I have found out that there is a creative touch like those with The Chronicle of Narnia. Main characters who played in both stories were both kids. There was also close resemblance in the plot, in the same manner two stories depicts the adventure of those heroic kids that will save the whole humanity. Lyra, the main character in this book (The Golden Compass) was the key in emerging the truth as she was bringing the golden althiometer, a symbol reader that will yield the truth.

Lyra and Pantalaimon
Amazement grew inside me
When I read about Lyras life story
In the book of The Golden Compass
Which is full of adventure and mystery.
I can’t imagine how difficult it would be
For a girl that is eleven years old only
To face the various quandary
That the primary involved is her own family.
This little Lyra has s daemon named Pantalaimon
Together they faced many complications
Two of them must not be separated
If ones away, other one is disgusted.
Many obstacles that they faced together
That seemed to be an ever after
But they survived cause of their unity
And they care and love each other extremely.

Lyra- in many ways she was a barbarian. What she like was clambering over the college roofs with Roger, the kitchen boy who was her particular friend, to spti plum stones on the heads of the passing scholars or to hoot like owls outside a window where a tutorial was going on, or racing through the narrow streets or stealing aplles form the market; or waging war. Passage Speaker
Passages Taken From “The Golden Compass”
1. All good things pass away
I choose this passage because we all know that everything in this world is not permanent, whether good or not, here is an end. Also, this for me is relevant for it reminds me that an even good thing has an equivalent ending to the bad things we have experienced.
2. Put it out of your head; the times are too dangerous
This passage was said by Lord Asriel to Lyra. I find Lyra an adventurous child and curios about everything. That’s why I choose this line because being too curious about everything will probably lead you to destruction and will endanger your life if you’re careless enough o what you’re doing. This line has a sort of meaningful idea which suggests that it will be better for an individual in not knowing something which you don’t have any connection with instead leave it or don’t mind it for the sake of your safeties.
3. When you’re young, you don’t think that things last forever
I choose this line because it has a connection with reality. When we are very young, we do think that everything happens in our lives will not end, these will never neither fades nor pass away. As a person which also undergone childhood life, I really don’t think about death or should I say, I don’t know about it, about ends, I just play and play and feel free on doing whatever I want to do. But nowadays, the reality just tells me that there will be a time for ending.
4. There’s a lot of goodness and sweetness in your nature and a lot of determination
This line was said by the Master to Lyra when informing her that she’ll be going to stay with Mrs. Coulter. I choose this line because ones character, personality, ad attitude has a big contribution on facing the challenges that we will encounter in our life. Most especially if you are optimistic, probably you will survive in this wild world we have.
5. It was a fine thing to be free again
This line catches my attention. This was experienced by Pantalaimon, the dæmon of Lyra. To be free is probably the happiest feeing a person could experience. No one will stop you from doing the things which satisfy you as a person. And to gain such freedom which a person desires to acquire, is such wonderful feeling which can’t be but or replaced by the materials in this world offers.
6. The powers of this world are very strong. Men and women are moved by tides much fiercer than you can imagine, and they sweep as all up into the current
I choose this line which stated by Mrs. Coulter to Lyra when they are about to start the cocktail party. I find it interesting and challenging because it reveals how people, men or women tempted their fellow and influence which will lead whether in a good path or bad path. This world offers many things for our convenient and to satisfy our need and even wants. If we will let ourselves go on in following the ways of the world, our lives will be ruin and be vanish without any sense or value.
7. Human beings can’t see anything without wanting to destroy it
This line that I’ve chosen was uttered by Lord Asriel to Lyra. I think he said it because most of the people have the desire to get what other people have and realize that they broke something important in the end. People usually see anything that is important when there is no left time to change or to stop this selfishly attitude. Especially when you are jealous, you will not really see what other people truly act and feel, and there are also times when you can’t get what you want then you will prefer to destroy that person whom you are jealous with.
8. Lie about everything else, lie about the Oblation Board, lie about your lovers, lie about the Church, lie about the child, but don’t lie about what you truly want
I choose this passage because I think it’s ironic to lie because lying is a sin. But this passage conveys that lying could be in everything you wanted, however, don’t lie about what you truly want. We all know that opportunity knocks once and to lie about the things you are longing for is such a hypocrite attitude. Also, chances are limited, so grab it and e good with it. This passage for me has a lesson because telling your true feelings and want will lead you to satisfaction and contentment in life.
9. But you could live a free proud life on the ice hunting seals and walruses, or you could go to war and win great prizes.
This passage tells us two different situations. This let us choose what life we want. In relation to the reality, our everyday lives have always choices to pick which will make one happy and satisfy. I also find this passage a self-check on which life I want to follow: a simple life or not. Also, this passage tells us what is more important in spending our stay here in the world to become unknown or known person.
10. To be anxious on behalf of the young. And the duty of the young is to scorn the anxiety of the adult.
I choose this passage because young and adult have different perspectives in life. Young ones will just play and play for funs while the adult focuses on the betterment of their life. And so, when these two people meet, they have different role to be made. In the story Lyra became the representative of the young which is very conscious and curious to the things surround her and so she made use of the adult to answer her issues in life and trying to be old so that she will be accepted in the adult’s field.
